California consumers are poised to see lower gas prices at the pumps — but bureaucratic hurdles stand in the way.
Industry groups say E15—a fuel containing up to 15% ethanol instead of the state’s current maximum of 10%--could be available within weeks. The change has the potential to lower gasoline prices by as much as 20 cents per gallon in a state that routinely has the highest gas prices in the US, researchers at the University of California, Berkeley, and the US Naval Academy found.
