Boeing, Shipbuilders Win in Reconciliation Defense Spending Plan

The Pentagon plans to spend almost $18 billion on shipbuilding and at least $1 billion on border security and counter-drug operations from the money Congress approved as part of a major tax-and-spending bill.

The proposed allocation of funds for counter-drug operations comes as the Trump administration has expanded strikes on alleged drug boats off the coast of Venezuela into the eastern Pacific. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced Monday in an X post that the US military had launched three strikes on four boats. The attacks killed a total of 14 “narco-terrorists,” and there was one survivor, Hegseth said.
