President Donald Trump could face a siege of investigations, oversight hearings, and tough choices in the final half of his term if Democrats wrest control of Congress in November, imperiling his legislative agenda after two years of a Republican governing trifecta.
While Democrats almost certainly wouldn’t be able to override Trump’s veto, they would have more power to challenge Trump and the GOP on some of their priorities by teeing up difficult votes, even if enacting packages on voting rights, clean energy, or healthcare is unlikely.
