BGOV OnPoint: House Moves Spending Bills, Senate Eyes Markups

The House passed its Agriculture-FDA appropriations bill this week and advanced several more fiscal 2027 funding bills in committee, as Senate appropriators plan their first markups of the year.

The full House Appropriations Committee approved the Transportation-HUD and Interior-Environment measures along party lines Wednesday.

Lawmakers clashed over provisions in the bills that would open federal land to drilling, cut funding for environmental and housing programs, and repurpose funds originally included in the 2021 bipartisan infrastructure law.
