BGOV Bill Analysis: H.R. 1329, Women’s Museum Site & Exhibit Ban

The Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum location would be designated at a specified site on the National Mall under a modified version of H.R. 1329.

The 2021 omnibus spending and Covid-19 pandemic aid legislation (Public Law 116-260, BGOV Bill Analysis) authorized the creation of the Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum. The law barred museum construction on the protected Reserve of the National Mall, but didn’t otherwise specify a site.
