AI, Robotics Need US Strategy to Stave Off China, Industry Says

The federal government must create and implement a national playbook to support artificial intelligence and robotics development in order to stay competitive against China, industry officials testified Tuesday.

Representatives from AI and robotics companies and trade associations appeared before a House Homeland Security subcommittee, urging Congress to prioritize a coordinated federal strategy to spur advancements in the emerging industries.

“Winning requires a whole-of-government approach,” said Max Fenkell, global head of policy and government relations at leading artificial intelligence startup Scale AI.
