Republicans will have an edge in congressional races under the map that’s been signed into law by Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine.
“When compared to the other proposals offered from House and Senate caucuses, both Republican and Democrat, the map in SB 258 makes the most progress to produce a fair, compact, and competitive map,” DeWine (R) said Nov. 20.
Three lawsuits have been filed challenging legislative maps, and the new congressional district lines also could draw litigation from voting rights groups that contend the plan violates a requirement that the maps don’t unduly favor any political party.
