Philadelphia won its fight, for now, to continue receiving federal grant money while refusing to comply with Trump administration’s rules designed to thwart “sanctuary cities.”
Both the law and the facts are in the city’s favor, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania said June 6.
“President Trump’s and Attorney General (Jeff) Sessions’ statements attempting to justify the federal government’s policies” are “inaccurate and not applicable as to Philadelphia,” Judge Michael M. Baylson said.
