Officer Can’t Sue Over Portrayal of Facebook Post in Database

A Philadelphia police officer can’t pursue defamation claims against an investigative journalism group for including his Facebook comment in a database that compiled thousands of police officers’ comments that the group said appeared to endorse violence, racism, and bigotry, the Eastern District of Pennsylvania said.

The organization, Injustice Watch, isn’t immune from suit under the Communications Decency Act, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania said.

But plaintiff D. F. Pace failed to plead actionable claims for defamation or for placing him in a false light, the court said.
