Netflix Scheme Costing $14 Million Leads to Guilty Plea

A Los Angeles-area man pleaded guilty in connection with a scheme to rip off foreign investment groups for $14 million meant for the production of a Netflix movie, prosecutors announced.

Adam Joiner pleaded guilty on Oct. 18 to one count of wire fraud and admitted to fraudulently collecting millions of dollars for a purported film that was supposed to be called “Legends,” the U.S. Attorney’s office said that day.
