Million-Dollar Bail Deemed Excessive by Appeals Court in Texas

A Texas man facing life in prison on charges of sexually assaulting his stepdaughter could see his $1 million bail reduced after a state appeals court ruled Wednesday that the bond was excessive.

David Ramirez-Hernandez faces three counts of aggravated sexual assault, and a judge in San Antonio set bail at $500,000 for one count and $250,000 each for two other counts. The incidents are alleged to have happened in April and May and involve the 13-year-old daughter of his common law wife.
