Former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.) has paid the government $200,000 of the $750,000 he promised as part of a plea agreement resolving charges that he converted that amount of campaign money to personal use (United States v. Jackson).
A Nov. 4 joint filing by prosecutors and defense attorneys in federal district court in Washington provided an update on the long-running case of Jackson. He pleaded guilty earlier this year and was sentenced in August to two years and six months in prison for violating personal-use restrictions 3576 Money & Politics Report, 8/15/13, 158 DER A-3, 8/15/13.
