ANCHORAGE, Alaska—Gov. Sean Parnell on July 22 signed a bill that significantly boosts the penalties for violating state antitrust law.
Under the bill (HB 87), antitrust violations will be classified as a Class C felony, punishable by fines of up to $1 million for individuals and $50 million for corporations. This is a change from current Alaska law, which classifies antitrust violations as misdemeanors punishable with fines of up to $20,000 for individuals and $50,000 for corporations or other organizations.
