‘Empire’ Row Over Juvenile Center Filming Won’t Get Class Status

Twentieth Century Fox Television and others won’t have to face class claims, for now, in a suit by two then-detainees at a Chicago Illinois juvenile detention center over the filming of scenes there for the Fox television show Empire, a federal trial court in Illinois said Thursday.

The plaintiffs haven’t yet met the criteria for class certification, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois said. It gave them 21 days to file a renewed motion, but strongly suggested that the parties explore settlement.
