Trump Hotel Beats Cork Wine Bar’s Unfair Competition Appeal (1)

Cork Wine Bar lost its appeal alleging President Donald Trump’s Pennsylvania Avenue hotel unfairly competes with it because Cork didn’t raise a viable claim under the Washington’s unfair competition law, the D.C. Circuit said.

Cork’s owner K&D LLC alleged it can’t fairly compete as long as Trump retains a stake in the Trump International Hotel because of the perception that hotel patrons such as lobbyists and diplomats will receive favorable treatment from the Trump Administration.
