Texas Sued Over New Six-Week Private Enforcement Abortion Ban

A new Texas law that gives private citizens the right to sue anyone who provides an abortion after six weeks gestation is unconstitutional, abortion providers in the state said Tuesday in a new federal court filing.

The law, known as S.B. 8, “will create absolute chaos in Texas and irreparably harm Texans in need of abortion services,” a complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas says. It will have an especially dire impact on poor, Latina, and Black women, the complaints says.
