Texas High Court Justices Likely to Adopt Trade Name Rule Change

The Texas Supreme Court appeared to favor eliminating the state’s ban on law firm trade names following a hearing on Tuesday, a step proponents say is needed to modernize standards for branding and advertising.

The justices considered an amendment to the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct already approved by the state bar. They peppered its disciplinary rules committee with questions about the effects of becoming the last state in the nation to drop the prohibition.
