Supreme Court Must Toughen Disclosure Rules, Senators Say (1)

The Supreme Court must voluntarily adopt stronger financial disclosure requirements for justices or face possible legislation mandating tougher ethics standards, two senators told Chief Justice John Roberts.

The judiciary has more relaxed disclosure requirements than the other two branches of government, Senate Judiciary Committee members Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) said in a letter to Roberts. And the requirements the judiciary does have don’t apply to Supreme Court justices, they said.
