Virginia, California, New York, D.C., and 17 other states added their voices to those of providers opposed to South Carolina’s ban on abortions after fetal cardiac activity is detected.
The states filed a friend of the court brief in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit to give a “broader perspective” on the heartbeat law’s impact. They are urging the appeals court to uphold a lower court order that’s keeping the law from taking effect.
