A St. Louis resident caught in a mass arrest of protesters may proceed with his civil rights suit against the police who conducted the arrest, the Eighth Circuit said Thursday.
The protest started after White Officer Jason Stockley was acquitted of the murder of a Black suspect, Anthony Lamar Smith, in September 2017.
Brian Baude alleged that some protesters vandalized a nearby neighborhood. He said he wasn’t involved in the property destruction but went to see what was happening.
