Spirit Airlines Beats Claims Over Fee for Shorter Security Lines

A federal appeals court affirmed dismissal of a would-be class action against Spirit Airlines Inc. over its “Shortcut Security” service Thursday.

Even if the $6 charge for expedited security screening is entirely bogus, the contract of carriage—signed by customers when they buy their airline tickets—includes a broad class action waiver that covers their claims, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit said in the unpublished decision.
