Sexual Misconduct Bill Sparked by #MeToo Backed by Senate Panel

Legislation that responds to the #MeToo movement by making it easier for employees to sue over workplace sexual misconduct is progressing in the Senate.

The Senate Judiciary Committee advanced a bill (S. 2342) Thursday that would ban enforcement of mandatory arbitration agreements when an employee alleges sexual harassment or assault.

The measure, known as the Ending Forced Arbitration of Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment Act, got sign-off from the panel in a voice vote, after being introduced by Sen.
