Senators who oversee the federal judiciary are requesting 10 years worth of travel records for U.S. Supreme Court justices as part of their efforts to assess transparency requirements for the nation’s highest court.
Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) and Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) requested all documents pertaining to travel and related security since 2011 in a letter to the Justice Department and U.S. Marshals Service sent June 4 and made public Tuesday.
Whitehouse is chair of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Federal Courts, Oversight, Agency Action, and Federal Rights. Kennedy is the subcommittee’s ranking Republican.
