Senate Judiciary Committee Democrats urged the Biden administration to change the government’s course and oppose a bid at the Supreme Court by a Koch-backed group and other powerful interests to derail a California law requiring that charities disclose their donors.

In a letter on Monday to Acting Solicitor General Elizabeth Prelogar, the lawmakers led by Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island and committee Chair Richard Durbin of Illinois said backing by the conservative-majority high court could “grant constitutional protection to anonymous ‘dark money’ spending in elections and on disinformation campaigns.”
