Secret Side Deal in Wage Suit Ends With Damages Award for Lawyer

A California attorney who said his client was duped into signing a secret settlement with his former employer is entitled to $100,000 in punitive damages, a state appellate court said Monday.

Motel worker William Hang hired Shin P. Yang on a 40 percent contingency fee basis to represent him in a wage-and-hour lawsuit filed in Los Angeles in 2015.
