Sandy Hook Hoax Blogger Loses Appeal Over University Firing

The Eleventh Circuit sided with Florida Atlantic University in the case of a former professor who was fired after blogging conspiracy theories about the Sandy Hook school shooting.

James Tracy was a tenured professor in FAU’s School of Communications and Multimedia Studies when he was fired in 2016 for failing to disclose his personal blog among his outside activities.

Tracy’s argument that the university’s policies requiring such a disclosure constituted a restriction on speech is “meritless,” a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit held Monday.
