San Jose Gun Owners’ Fee Survives, but New Challenge on Horizon

Two gun rights advocacy groups lost their consolidated legal challenge to a San Jose, Calif., ordinance imposing a fee on residents who own guns, because their federal court claim was not yet ripe.

But the groups were given leave by the US District Court for the Northern District of California Judge Beth Labson Freeman to file an amended their complaint after the city adopts rules implementing the fees.
