Rhode Island Gets GOP Allies in Lawsuit Over Ballot Witness Rule

The Republican National Committee and the Rhode Island Republican Party asked a federal judge on Sunday to let them help defend Rhode Island’s witness requirement for mail-in ballots.

Rhode Island’s requirement that either two witnesses or a notary sign off on a voter’s absentee ballot protects the integrity of the election process, according to the GOP’s motion to intervene in the lawsuit pending at the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island.
