Review Bump-Stock Ban for Guns, U.S. Asks Full Sixth Circuit

A Sixth Circuit panel’s finding that the federal ban on bump stocks for semiautomatic guns is likely unconstitutional misinterpreted a machine gun law and therefore should be reviewed by the full appeals court, the Justice Department said in a petition for rehearing Monday.

The panel rejected the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ conclusion that bump stocks can be regulated as machine guns.
