Planned Parenthood Wins First Round Against South Carolina

South Carolina can’t end a Planned Parenthood affiliate’s Medicaid provider contract, at least for now.

An Aug. 28 decision by the U.S. District Court for the District of South Carolina means Planned Parenthood South Atlantic (PPSA) will continue receiving Medicaid payments for services it provides to about 4,500 low-income state residents every year. The order will be in effect until the court issues a decision on the merits of PPSA’s challenge to the state’s decision to cut off its payments.
