Former D.C. Bar presidents hope to send an ethics wake-up call with an opinion piece condemning lawyers for bringing “unsupported assertions” about election fraud on behalf of the Trump campaign.
The op-ed that appeared in the Washington Post on Tuesday decried a “destructive and unwarranted series of abusive lawsuits filed by some members of the American legal profession” since the Nov. 3 election seeking to overturn the result in favor of Democrat Joe Biden.
While the 25 signatories recognized that attorneys must zealously represent their clients, they said no lawyer can seek to “subvert democratic institutions or burden the courts”...
