‘Notario’ Accused of Preying on Immigrants Settles for $400K

A notorious notario will pay $400,000 to settle a San Francisco lawsuit alleging the immigration consultant preyed upon and deceived immigrants for two decades, the City Attorney’s office said (People of the State of California v. Lacayo, Cal. Super. Ct., No. CGC-16-553699, stipulated settlement filed 9/6/17).

San Francisco City Attorney Dennis Herrera (D) alleged Leonard Lacayo since 1986 has falsely presented himself as an attorney in an immigration consulting business that charged clients thousands of dollars for sham legal services.
