Ninth Circuit Nominee Advances in Senate After Panel Deadlocked

President Joe Biden’s latest Ninth Circuit nominee advanced in the Senate Thursday after deadlocking in the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Holly Thomas’ discharge vote didn’t need Vice President Kamala Harris to break a tie as did another recent Biden pick, Jennifer Sung, who had signed a letter opposing Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation.

Senators voted 50-46 Thursday to bring Thomas’ nomination to the floor after deadlocking 11-11 in the Judiciary Committee.
