McDonald’s Biometric Class Suit Should Proceed, Plaintiff Says

Claims that McDonald’s Corp. violated customers’ biometric privacy rights were made in “exacting detail” and the case should thus proceed, the plaintiff is arguing in Illinois federal court.

The Chicago-based hamburger chain collected drive-thru customers’ biometric voiceprints with its artificial intelligence ordering system, plaintiff Shannon Carpenter argued in a memorandum of law in opposition to McDonald’s motion to dismiss filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Attorneys representing McDonald’s didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
