Iowa Attorney Who Dealt in Pot Has License Revoked

A city attorney and part-time criminal-defense practitioner in Iowa also trafficked in marijuana and will have his license revoked, the Iowa Supreme Court said.

Don Richard John Baumeister, who worked in Council Bluffs, Iowa, paid a co-conspiritor to travel to Oregon to obtain bulk quantities of marijuana for the attorney to sell in neighboring Omaha, Neb., the court said May 3. The “mule” returned with six pounds on the first trip and eight pounds on the second, according to the court.
