Insurers, States Urge High Court to Hear Obamacare Pay Case

Leading insurance trade groups, 18 states, several health insurance plans, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce are calling on the U.S. Supreme Court to review a decision that stripped insurers of more than $12 billion.

The federal government can’t get out of paying health insurers money promised them under the Affordable Care Act’s risk corridors program, several friend-of-the-court briefs told the U.S. Supreme Court March 8. The high court should rule that Congress improperly changed how the program works after the law took effect, several briefs said.
