In-Flight Slap Assault Charge Filed in Wrong Court, Dismissed

The charge filed against a female airline passenger for slapping another passenger on a flight from Minneapolis to Los Angeles was filed in the wrong court, the Ninth Circuit said April 11.

The government argued the charge against Monique Lozoya was properly filed in the federal court for the Central District of California because the flight landed in Los Angeles, but the opinion by Judge Milan D. Smith Jr. said venue was only appropriate in the district over which the slap occurred.
