Gulf of Mexico Oil, Gas Lease Cancellation Appealed by Louisiana

Louisiana and an oil and gas trade association want the D.C. Circuit to undo a federal judge’s order canceling the largest offshore oil and gas lease sale in U.S. history in the Gulf of Mexico.

The state and American Petroleum Institute filed their appeals after the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia vacated Lease Sale 257 in January. The sale opened about 80 million acres in the to oil and gas leasing.
