Greenpeace Must Face Defamation Claim by Canadian Logging Firm (1)

Greenpeace International must face a lawsuit by a Canadian logging company that blamed name-calling by the environmental group for driving away its customers.

A federal judge in San Francisco Jan. 22 threw out most claims by Montreal-based Resolute Forest Products Inc., including civil racketeering, but said the company can proceed with its claims for defamation and unfair competition. The judge previously dismissed the case entirely while allowing the company to revise its complaint.
