California personal injury law firm Girardi Keese must pay Law Finance Group LLC the $6 million that remains on a settlement over litigation expenses advanced by the funder, a Los Angeles trial court said.
Law Finance Group alleges it loaned money to Girardi Keese in 2015 to fund litigation but wasn’t paid back when the firm received proceeds from the cases.
Girardi Keese paid $10 million on the $16 million settlement in June, and agreed to pay the rest by July 7 or accept a judgment of the California Superior Court for Los Angeles County.
