Foreign Students of Sham University Get Visa Class Action Revived

Five foreign students of a “sham university” can move forward with their legal challenge to the revocation of their students visas, a federal appeals court ruled Aug. 15.

The Department of Homeland Security created the “University of Northern New Jersey” as part of a scheme to catch brokers of fraudulent student visas. The operation caught many such brokers, but also ensnared hundreds of foreign students who “enrolled” at UNNJ. DHS informed the students that their visas were being terminated.
