Forced-Labor Law Not Unconstitutionally Vague; Conviction Upheld

The conviction of a Texas couple who brought a young girl over from Guinea to take care of their house and needs, and abused her for 16 years to keep her in line, were upheld by Fifth Circuit Friday.

Mohamed Toure and Denise Cos-Toure’s argument that the definition of “serious harm” in the Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act is overbroad, along with Mohamed’s contention the evidence didn’t support his conviction, were rejected in the opinion written by Judge Jennifer Walker Elrod.
