Fluor Denied Judge Transfer Request in Afghanistan Bombing Case

Fluor Corp. failed to convince a South Carolina district court that a judge transfer is necessary to avoid a conflict of interest in a lawsuit alleging the contractor didn’t do enough to stop a suicide bombing attack in Afghanistan in November 2016.

Fluor argued the suit should be transferred from Judge Bruce H. Hendricks to Judge Joseph Dawson III, because Hendricks’ niece-by-marriage is an attorney working for plaintiffs in other cases related to the attack, and Hendricks’ rulings could affect that attorney’s work on those cases.
