Ex-Officer Guilty of Excessive Force Must Get Tougher Sentence

A police officer who pulled a woman out of his police vehicle and threw her to the ground while her hands were bound, injuring her severely, will face more significant consequences for a related criminal conviction, after the Fourth Circuit vacated his probationary sentence Wednesday.

A different judge for the U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina will handle resentencing on remand, according to the unpublished decision of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
