EPA Reaches Settlement in Suit Over Insecticide Residue in Food

The EPA reached an agreement with groups that sought around $200,000 in attorneys’ fees and costs after they successfully challenged the adequacy of the agency’s efforts to reduce chlorpyrifos residue in food, according to a filing in the Ninth Circuit.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit said in April 2021 that the agency must ban the pesticide’s residue in food or determine how much to reduce the substance to prevent harm.
