The federal government’s top criminal lawyer at the U.S. Supreme Court, Michael Dreeben, is stepping away from his post after more than three decades in the Solicitor General’s Office.
High Court Milestone: Dreeben is one of a handful of lawyers who have argued more than 100 high court cases, having argued 105 before being detailed to the Mueller investigation.
Two Firsts: Dreeben’s first argument in 1989 was against a 33-year-old John Roberts, who was also making his Supreme Court debut. Roberts ended up winning that double jeopardy case 9-0. Jordan S. Rubin has the story.
