CalAmp Gets Part of Patent Verdict Nixed, Third Trial Ordered

CalAmp Corp. and Omega Patents LLC will head back to court to spar over damages after the Federal Circuit rejected a second jury’s $4.6 million infringement award.

Omega didn’t provide enough evidence to support the jury’s award of damages for infringing one of its patents on systems that remotely control vehicle functions, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit held in a precedential opinion. It ordered a new trial on damages.
