Brooklyn Judge Loses Suit Over Democratic Committee Endorsement

A former judge in Brooklyn, New York, can’t continue her lawsuit charging that the Kings County Democratic County Committee violated her constitutional rights in its judicial endorsement process, the Second Circuit ruled Oct. 8.

Laura Lee Jacobson alleged that the committee, its Judicial Screening Committee, and various employees violated the committee’s rules concerning its endorsement process for a judicial nominating convention, effectively preventing Jacobson from being renominated for her judgeship. She also claimed that confidential information from the process was leaked, leading to defamatory articles in The New York Post.
