Boies Schiller Flexner Closes Orlando Office

Jan. 14, 2020, 9:51 PM

Boies Schiller Flexner has shuttered its small operation in central Florida and relocated its remaining lawyers to its Miami office.

A spokesperson for the litigation powerhouse confirmed that its Orlando office, one of the firm’s earliest outposts, closed at the end of 2019, following the retirement of senior partner Gary Harris. Harris, a longtime partner at the firm, was one of three partners located in the office prior to its closure.

The head of its Orlando operation Karen Dyer and partner Cynthia Christian, along with of counsel Marcy Norwood Lynch, have been relocated to Boies Schiller’s Miami office. Longtime Boies Schiller counsel George Coe, who also was based in Orlando, is no longer with the firm.

A spokeman said the office closure was “for the efficient management of the firm.”

With the Orlando office shutting down, Boies Schiller now has 13 offices in the U.S. and an office in London.

The Orlando outpost opened in October 1997, just months after founder David Boies announced he’d leave Cravath, Swaine & Moore where he was a longtime partner. According to a 2017 interview with Boies, Orlando was his new firm’s third office, after Armonk, NY, and Washington.
