Bard Blood-Clot Filter Case Tossed for Lack of Link to Harm

C.R. Bard Inc. and unit Bard Peripheral Vascular Inc. won judgment in a blood-clot trapping filter case shortly before trial, as a federal court said a Washington man raised questions about warning adequacy but failed to link the device to his alleged harm.

Christopher Shafer, then 17, was seriously injured in a 2004 car accident. His doctors placed a Bard Recovery filter in his inferior vena cava because he had developed a blood clot in his right lung.
